Jack Casciato Authors Column on Trucking Industry’s Failure to Install Warning Systems

Jack J. Casciato, partner at Clifford Law Offices, wrote a column for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin (June 17, 2019) on the need for the trucking industry to install crash warning systems on all of their vehicles.

He recounts how even subcompact cars have installed these safety systems on cars that retail for $14,000 and questions what is holding up trucking companies from making such an important safety measure standard on all of its vehicles.

With the front page headline of “These companies should not be permitted to escape the truth,” Casciato describes how Illinois law does not allow the lack of this accident prevention technology to be introduced into evidence when a crash occurs. It has been around for some 10 years, and Casciato makes a persuasive argument about the need to change this law.
